Ken Herceg & Associates, Inc. designed one mile of infrastructure improvements along Beardsley Avenue, a major arterial in the City of Elkhart. This was the first joint venture between Miles, Inc. and the City of Elkhart.

This infrastructure project included the construction of a storm sewer trunk line up to 60” in diameter to serve both the Miles, Inc. facility and the City of Elkhart. A sanitary interceptor sewer and water mains along the entire project length were newly constructed, and portions Beardsley Avenue were reconstructed. Numerous existing sewers required relocation to accommodate the new storm sewer, and approximately three miles of pipes were installed under the one mile of reconstructed roadway.

Extensive coordination was required with both Miles, Inc. and the City of Elkhart to ensure an effective and timely design that satisfied both parties and the surrounding community.
