Ken Herceg & Associates, Inc. announced the unveiling of the restored exterior of the 1894 LaPorte County Courthouse in February 2007. The Lake Superior Red Sandstone façade was cleaned and repaired using custom-colored repair mortar as well as being 100% repointed utilizing historically appropriate lime putty mortar. Stone foliate and greenman carvings were restored to their original detail. Over 180 windows were replaced with energy efficient windows matching original historic profiles and 82 stained glass transom windows were releaded and reinstalled. Slate roofing was repaired and waterproof membrane was installed on stone foundation walls.

An interior skylight dome that had been painted over was reglazed to once again bring natural light into the Courthouse atrium. This sunlight has brought renewed life into the interior of the structure. The restored skylight includes a new laminated patterned glass with white trim and white surround, which helps reflect the natural lighting.
